Figma has been the most convenient and populist tool for UI/UX design in this decade.
Due to its simple design and smoother experience, designers love to work with Figma over the other alternatives in the industry.
But, it is only partially free. You have to pay for some extended services like
- Unlimited projects
- Unlimited Figma files
- Unlimited pages
and more. It costs $15 a month.
I know. Most students hate these pricing plans. Especially those who are in developing countries.
Simply, they cannot afford such a price for a single service, so they always leave behind the competition.
That’s why Figma decided to offer a Student Pack. So, every student can get a professional plan for free.
How to Get the Figma Student Plan?
The steps are easier than eating a pie. Just Google the term “Figma for education” and hit Enter.
You will be redirected to the official Figma student request form page.
- Click on the Get Verified button to start the process.
- Remember to log in with your Student email if you already have an account, or Create a new account with it.
- You will be prompted with a form page with your student email visible like in this screenshot.
- Opt for the option “Student”
- Next, you have to choose the institution type you’re currently in or otherwise, you can prove you are in.
- As an example, if you are in University, choose Higher Education from the dropdown.
If you choose Higher Education, they ask you to fill 3 more fields as below.
- The reason why you are applying?
- Your school or university name.
- Field of study.
Just fill out the fields as necessary.
Next, they will ask you to verify you are currently enrolled as a student which you filled out above as your school.
The verification process is the same as verifying for the GitHub student developer pack.
You can try uploading the following:
- Student ID
- Result sheet with the seal of the institution
- Any document with the seal and date of the same year as you apply
Give a rough value for the expected graduation date. It doesn’t matter what.
- Finally, Opt-in for both Figma terms and hit Submit.
Tada! you have successfully applied for the Figma Student Subscription.
Now you can use Figma Pro features without thinking about the cost.
What’s Next
Figma is not the only resource you can access for free as a student. There are a lot of major companies that are giving that feature. GitHub student pack is one such service that will provide 100+ such premium services for free.
